DO YOU GIVE A SHIT?
If you’re reading this you might be reading lots of job adverts looking for a carpenter. This advert and opportunity will be a little different. Firstly, we don’t care about your ‘years in the trade’, your ability to swing ten doors in a day or how quickly you can fit a kitchen. Nothing is more unimpressive than ‘another site guy’ who thinks being quick is a measure of ability.
For years our trade has been ruined by shitty companies ‘house bashing’ and valuing speed over quality. If that’s you by the way don’t bother reading on, Persimmons Homes and Torus housing are hiring and they don’t give a shit, maybe apply to them instead…
We want to hire people who really enjoy the job and take pride in their work. Anyone with the right training can learn to do what we do but we want more than that. Our customers come back to us time and time again because they know we hold ourselves to high standards.
We also treat people like adults! What does that mean? It means if you need to head off early to pick the kids up one day or take your partner to the doctors then go, you don’t need to explain yourself. If your child is starting school, we’d rather you were there to drop them off and pick them up than with us. The team around you will pick up the slack. Just remember though, as part of the team you’ll be doing this for others too…
Over the last couple of years, we have seen great growth and expect to grow even further in the near future, so there will be plenty of opportunities for career development if that’s what you’re after. If you want to learn a new skill, tell us. If we can’t teach you we might put you on a course. If you want to take on more responsibility, let us know. As we grow there will always be the capacity for people to develop their careers
This has only been achievable though by establishing our reputation for leaving a quality finish and sticking to one simple rule, “When you wear the shirt, you give a shit!”. We expect you to give a shit about our customers, we expect you to give a shit about the job you leave and we expect you to give a shit about your teammates. The “that’s not my job” attitude doesn’t fly with us. And yes, sometimes that does mean picking up the broom or the spade. If our owner can sweep up, so can you.
If you’ve read this far and want to work for a company that values the quality of finish then get in touch. Every company now talks about “taking pride in their work” and sadly the words have lost their meaning but if you truly love leaving a top quality finish to your jobs and want to work for a company that will value you then let us know.
